Get Your Kicks

January 19, 2022 by Webmaster Leave a Comment

Get Your Kicks – Hi-Tops is a collection of randomly generated NFT artwork featuring hand-drawn Photoshop layers randomly combined with a Python script used to output the art and the associated metadata for each image.

The web frontend for the project was my second foray into React app development, very similar to my Unshelved Elves project.

Unshelved Elves

January 19, 2022 by Webmaster Leave a Comment

Unshelved Elves is a collection of randomly generated NFT artwork that imagines the ubiquitous elves off-the-clock and living their best elf-lives out in the real world.

The images (20K in total) were generated via carefully positioned Photoshop layers randomly combined with a Python script which output the art and the associated metadata for each image.

The web frontend for the project was my first React app development, and I used the project as a learning experience, figuring out URL routing, IPFS (Inter-Planetary File System) deployment, and continuous integration through GitHub and Heroku.

For another example of a generative art project with a React frontend, check out my Get Your Kicks project post.

John Rea Land Company

January 5, 2022 by Webmaster Leave a Comment

When John Rea Realty needed a new website for their land-sales division, they contacted me to see if I would be able to build them a site that could integrate their MLS listings. I had never worked with MLS data before, so I performed some preliminary research and discovered several MLS providers with various types of WordPress plugins offering different features and price points.

We opted for a full-featured MLS system which included not only their individual and featured listings, but also incorporated map views and multiple widget types to achieve the look and functionality they were seeking. Now they manage their own listings through the MLS software portal, and all of the data and details are pulled into the site without requiring them to make any changes in WordPress itself.

New Vision Learning Academy

New Vision Learning Academy is a premier charter school serving Monroe, Louisiana. The school needed a website for posting forms and announcements, their calendar of events, monthly menus, and general school information in a format easy and intuitive for parents to find what they needed. More recently, they also included specific notifications about COVID-specific rules and procedures as well as remote learning information and forms.

Boomerang Man

Rich “The Boomerang Man” Harrison came to me seeking a full-fledged e-commerce website capable of processing incoming orders from around the world. Having been in the business of selling boomerangs since 1975 through mail-order catalogs, he was completely new to the world of website sales.

I built his site, featuring pictures from inside his workshop, and I produced informative walk-thru documentation allowing him to learn how to add and maintain his products and inventory within WooCommerce. Now he manages the site himself via his editor-level user account and implements a wide range of WooCommerce functionality including coupon codes, product attributes, inventory, and even abandoned cart action hooks.
